This
is an article I wrote about the Tulsa Achieves program
for my journalism course. I hope it will help you plan for
college!
Students who receive the Tulsa Achieves scholarship are
also eligible to participate in the Partners in Progress
(P2 or P-squared) program—a traditional, on-campus
residential experience at TU.
According to the TU website, the P2 Program “provides
students with a residential campus experience on the TU campus
where they can live among their fellow students and have
full access to campus facilities such as the library and
fitness center and all activities except participation as
student athletes in intercollegiate athletics.”
The on-campus student is also provided with a free, three-hour
TU course each semester, as well as free and/or discounted
admission to TU cultural and sporting events. After completing
at least 48 hours of course work at TCC with a minimum GPA
of 2.5, they are automatically enrolled full-time at TU and
eligible for additional grants and scholarships up to a maximum
of $10,000 per year.
The Tulsa Achieves program began Fall 2007 with nearly 1,400
students enrolled from public, private and home schools.
The program pays up to 100% of tuition and fees for up to
60 college credit hours for students living in Tulsa County.
Students must remain in good academic standing (2.0 GPA
or higher) and provide 40 hours of community service per
academic year.
Applications for the 2008 Tulsa Achieves class will be accepted
beginning January 2008. Deadline for application for the
Tulsa Achieves Scholarship program is April 30 of each year.
